OPBSI Announces Ray of Hope Walk Beneficiary for 2018-2019
OPBSI Announces Ray of Hope Walk Beneficiary for 2018-2019 — And a New City!
Each year Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. (OPBSI) builds a partnership with an organization committed to eradicating the different forms of gender-based violence. We do this by naming a beneficiary of our Ray of Hope Walk efforts in the hopes of honoring the work and commitment of a specific organization. This year our search brought us to Atlanta, where a national organization rooted in the leadership of women of color and a fierce commitment to reproductive justice has deep roots. It is with much excitement that we announce that the beneficiary for Ray of Hope Walk 2018 and 2019 will be SisterSong!
We admire SisterSong’s commitment to the movement to end violence against women through their reproductive justice trainings, art & culture programming and community organizing to protect the rights of women of color, trans women and other marginalized women. Over the next two years, we envision this powerful partnership under Ray of Hope Walk will continue challenging women and men alike to be a part of this movement; working towards a world that is safe, equitable and nurturing for all women and girls.
In addition to solidifying the beneficiary relationship with such an amazing collective of women, OPBSI is also excited to announce a location change. Since its inception in 2012, Ray of Hope Walk has grown tremendously from being based in one city: New York City, to now growing to four total cities across the country. This year we are proud to announce that the ROHW will be moving from Berkeley, CA to Los Angeles! We are excited to work with our Sisters in Los Angeles and to partner with powerful grassroots organizations mobilizing in LA. We look forward to seeing you at one of the four cities on October 6th, 2018: New York City, Chicago, Atlanta or Los Angeles.
