Ray of Hope Walk – Propelling the movement forward together
For years Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. (OPBSI) has built partnerships with organizations committed to eradicating the different forms of gender-based violence by naming them beneficiary of our Ray of Hope Walk in order to honor and support their work. This year our search brought us to Atlanta, GA, where SisterSong Inc., a national organization driven by the leadership of women of color and a fierce commitment to reproductive justice, has deep roots.
We admire SisterSong’s commitment to the movement to end violence against women through their reproductive justice trainings, art & culture programming and community organizing to protect the rights of women of color, trans women and other marginalized women. Over the next two years, we envision this powerful partnership under Ray of Hope Walk will continue challenging women and men alike to be a part of this movement; working towards a world that is safe, equitable and nurturing for all women and girls. A world where all types of violence against women are non-existent. We are excited to embark on the 7th year of Ray of Hope Walk with the intention, passion and strategy needed to drive this initiative.
Since its inception in 2012, Ray of Hope Walk has grown tremendously in size and reach; from New York City, to now occurring simultaneously in four total cities across the country including Atlanta, GA, Chicago, IL and Los Angeles, CA. We are excited to work with our sisters in all four locations and to partner with SisterSong as well as other powerful grassroots organizations mobilizing in each city.
We look forward to seeing you at one of the four cities on October 6th, 2018: New York City, Chicago, Atlanta or Los Angeles.
